Estella Matutes

Estella Matutes is an Honorary Consultant Haematologist at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, a Reader in Haematological Malignancies at the Institute of Cancer Research and a teacher at London University. Her main research interests are focused on the pathogenesis and clinical management of patients with chronic B- and T-cell leukaemias and lymphomas. She is a member of various UK and international committees, including the World Health Organization (WHO) committee for the classification of acute leukaemias and the European Group for the Immunological Classification of Leukaemias (EGIL). Dr Matutes is a faculty member of various European tutorial boards, Commissioning Editor for the British Medical Bulletin, a member of the Editorial Board of Annals in Haematology and Associate Editor of Advances in Haematology. She receives grants from the Leukaemia Research Fund (LRF), Cancer Research UK and Key Kendal. She has had more than 400 articles and book chapters published and has edited four books. Dr Matutes graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Barcelona University, receiving an Extraordinary Graduation Prize on Licenciate Degree and qualifying as a Specialist in Internal Medicine and Haematology. She was awarded fellowships from the Medical Research Council (MRC) and LRF at Hammersmith Hospital and received a PhD from the University of London.
