Louis M Aledort

Louis M Aledort, MD, MACP, is a chaired Professor of Medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. He has spent his career in the area of bleeding disorders, and has served as a consultant to the World Health Organization (WHO), the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), and the House Ways & Means Committee. He has also consulted for Aventis Behring, the American Red Cross, and Baxter BioScience, and spent two years at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Dr Aledort has chaired and/or been a member of the Practice Committees of the American Society of Hematology (ASH) and the American College of Physicians (ACP). He has written more than 300 articles on several aspects of bleeding and clotting disorders, with an emphasis on the supply availability and affordability of blood products. He has also been involved in developing healt care programs and their underwriting in developing nations. Dr Aledort was educated and trained at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Universities of Rochester and Virginia.
